NxGen, located in Wynberg Johannesburg, is one of South Africa’s leading car tuning and modifying workshops and has been specialising in performance cars, most being Japanese, since 1998.
For the past ten years NxGen has been building, modifying and tuning some of the country’s most impressive street legal cars. Whilst the business was originally focussed on Subaru Impreza’s, under Darren Ferraris’ management NxGen was exploring other automotive avenues ranging from building Lotus 7 replicas to tuning BMW Minis.
Since Craig and Martin took over the business in 2005, NxGen received both an injection of capital and morale. Craig’s motto “Enjoy what you do, do what you enjoy” started paying dividends with a larger product range, support for a greater range of models and of course, more customers.
These changes motivated NxGen to find larger premises for additional work bays, lifts and the four wheel hub dyno. In the three years NxGen was in Fabriek Street, Stydom Park, NxGen gained several additional exclusive agencies and steadily improved its reputation for sophisticated tuning and engine building.
With already proven business and technical success in the IT industry, Craig has, over the years, developed a national reputation for engine mapping, tuning many big power cars which have all stood the test of time, such as several R34 Skyline GTR’s (each producing over 450kw on all four wheels) a number of Subaru’s producing well over 300kw and several Evo’s out- dyno’ing the Impreza’s.
NxGen’s continuing growth again necessitated moving to bigger and better premises in early 2008, this time into 1000m² of workshop space in Wynberg. Ideally situated with frontage onto the M1 highway, NxGen is positioned to service a select client base of discerning performance car owners.
SAM Racing
2008 sees NxGen becoming one of the sponsors for the SAM Racing team. The team's first recognition came about in 2005 when they won the class T championship with the Geoff Mortimer built Minis Cooper S.
For the 2008 season, Sam Racing is running three Nissan 350Z's and two formula VW cars. Half way through the season, both formulas are performing strongly with recent races having achieved several podium finishes.
